About This Directory
This site is an independent, non-commercial directory of civil legal aid, pro bono, and self-help legal resources available to Wyoming residents, supplemented with a small number of key national programs (such as the Veterans Consortium Pro Bono Program and the U.S. Supreme Court) that Wyoming residents are eligible to use.
Why this exists
Wyoming guarantees the right to counsel in criminal cases, but not in civil matters — the disputes over housing, family law, debt, benefits, and safety that make up most of what people actually face. Current estimates suggest 30–60% of civil litigants in Wyoming represent themselves, often because of cost, geographic distance in a large rural state, or simply not knowing which of dozens of overlapping organizations to contact. This directory tries to make that landscape legible in one place: 140 resources across 21 categories, each with a plain-language description of who it serves and what it can (and cannot) do.
How resources were selected
Entries were drawn from a structural review of Wyoming's access-to-justice ecosystem, covering LSC-funded legal aid, state-coordinated pro bono networks, academic legal clinics, targeted demographic advocacy (veterans, survivors of domestic violence, unhoused individuals), constitutional and post-conviction litigation, tribal courts, alternative dispute resolution, and self-guided legal research. Every link was checked for accuracy before publication.
What this directory is not
This is not a law firm, a legal aid provider, or a substitute for legal advice. It does not screen users for eligibility, and it cannot guarantee that any organization listed will be able to take a given case — funding, capacity, and eligibility rules vary and change. Always contact an organization directly to confirm current services before relying on this information.
Corrections
Organizations change hours, funding, and intake procedures. If you find outdated or incorrect information, please let the maintaining organization know so the listing can be updated.
